RA Acting Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan receives delegation of the Armenian Evangelical World Council and the Evangelical Association

On September 22, RA Acting Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received members of the delegation of the Armenian Evangelical World Council and the Evangelical Association, who are in Armenia to participate in the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia and celebrate the 170th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Evangelical Church in the Homeland.

Greeting the guests, Hranush Hakobyan congratulated them on the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia and on the 170th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Evangelical Church and particularly stated the following: “I am glad that you are in Armenia on the days when we Armenians are proudly celebrating the 25th anniversary of Armenian Independence. Out of all the achievements that have been made over the past 25 years, I would like to set aside three achievements. The first is the existence of two Armenian republics. The second is the formation of the strong Armenian army. The third is the establishment of state institutions that successfully collaborate with international organizations.”

Hranush Hakobyan praised the invaluable role that the Armenian Diaspora has played on the difficult path leading to the establishment of independence and expressed gratitude to the Armenian Evangelical Church for its contributions. The acting Minister also stressed the tremendous role that Haigazian University of Beirut, which is the only Armenian university in the entire Armenian Diaspora, has played in the sphere of Armenology.

President of the Armenian Evangelical World Council, the Very Rev. Meguerditch Karagyozyan expressed gratitude to Hranush Hakobyan for the kind words of appreciation and stated the following: “It is not only a duty, but also a great joy for the members of the Armenian Evangelical Church to help the homeland. We see the achievements that have been made over the past 25 years, the dedication of the new generation and its efforts to maintain the homeland with vigor and hard work.”

Executive Director of the Armenian Missionary Association of America Zaven Khanjian mentioned the following: “The Armenian Missionary Association is eternally and unconditionally committed to Armenia and is ready to do everything possible to see the empowerment of the Homeland of our dreams quickly.”

Executive Director of the Armenian Evangelical World Council Vahan Tootikian, President of the Haigazian University of Beirut, Rev. Paul Haytostian, leader of the Armenian Evangelical Community of Syria, Rev. Haroutioun Selimian and others expressed their words of gratitude.

At the end of the meeting, Acting Minister Hranush Hakobyan wished that the September 25 ceremony dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Evangelical Church at Aram Khachaturian Grand Concert Hall would be a success.
