Painter Bedig Bedrosian openes personal exhibition in Sofia

The premiere of the “Moorages” project gathered tonight dozens of artists and intellectuals, politicians and public figures at the Sofia Art Gallery. “Moorages” is part of the traveling exhibition “Land between the river and the sea”, which presents the canvas of one of the most famous artists of the XX century – Bedig Bedrosyan. It is realized through the platform “Ancestral Memory” of association “Ararat” – Varna. The idea belongs to the chairman of the association Kevork Krikorian.
Prime Minister Boyko Borisov sent a special congratulatory letter to Krikorian: “It is my pleasure to welcome you on the occasion of the opening of Bulgarian painter Bedig Bedrosian’s exhibition in Sofia Art Gallery. I would like to congratulate you for your efforts to strengthen the prestige of this artist – an important part of the contemporary Bulgarian art and of our cultural heritage.”
One of the greatest friends of Bedig Bedrosian – George Chapkanov – Chapa presented to association “Ararat” – Varna his gift – his newest project for a monument to the master of the brush. “Sofia Municipality strongly supports the construction of the memorial. The traveling exhibition “Land between the river and the sea” is one of the most unique experiences I have had in my recent years.”, stated emotionally the deputy mayor for culture Todor Chobanov.
“Memory is primordial source of love in time. So tonight I want to warmly thank all of you who took the time and came to feel the love and almost magical power of Bedig Bedrosyan. Thank you, friends! Memory belongs also to the future.”, said the nephew of the artist and inspirer of the project – Kevork Krikoryan.
For the first time the gallery retrospective vernissage shows unique fresco of the artist from the oldest Armenian Church in Bulgaria (in Silistra).
Among the official guests were Nelli Matevosian, counselor in the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Bulgaria, MPs, councilors, directors of galleries in the country. The speeches were closed with an Armenian song by loved both from Bulgarians and Armenians – Haigashod Agasyan.
Bedig Bedrosian paintings will remain in the Sofia gallery until August 14th. “Land between the river and the sea” is already included in the cultural plan of the National Gallery of Armenia for June 2017.
