Robbers also abduct cross donated by Catholicos of All Armenians Vazgen I from Galina Starovoytova’s home-museum in St. Petersburg

The home-museum of famous political figure Galina Starovoytova, killed 17 years ago, has been robbed. News about the robbery was reported on July 27, according to Azatutyun Radio’s Russian service.
When the home-museum’s director Galina Markelova went to the home-museum, she saw that the doors and windows were open. Later, Olga Sarovoytova, director of the Galina Starovoytova Foundation and sister of the killed Member of Parliament, also went to the home-museum.
The women saw that the new computer donated by a benefactor was missing and that the robbers had abducted Starovoytova’s watch, ring and golden cross.
“The cross didn’t cost much, but it was actually priceless. Galina Starovoytova had received it as a gift from Catholicos of All Armenians Vazgen I. It is a great loss,” Olga Starovoytova said.
“Vazgen I is a special person for the Armenians. They respect him as almost a saint. We won’t return such a cross, but if anyone from our Armenian community has a cross in that shape, we would be happy to put it in place of the lost one. Some pervert was tempted by gold weighing five grams, not knowing the value of that cross,” she said, according to 168.am.
The representatives of the Galina Starovoytova Foundation say they need to call the police, but Olga Starovoytova believes there is no sense.
The Galina Starovoytova Foundation is a non-governmental organization that lacks funding for the home-museum’s protection. The museum’s photos, videos and books were not damaged.
Galina Starovoytova was killed on 20 November 1998 near the entrance to her home. The client of the murder has not been revealed to this day.
