Participant of “Armenia. Create Together” youth forum: “As a Diaspora Armenian, my dream is to help Armenia”

Houshig Gaimagamian is a 2nd year student of the Department of Political Sciences and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut and is currently in Armenia to participate in the AGBU Yerevan Summer Internship Program, which is being held by the RA Ministry of Diaspora and the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Houshig is also participating in the first “Armenia. Create Together” youth forum organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora, in association with the Armenian General Benevolent Union, Luys Foundation and Ayb Foundation.

Talking about her choice of profession, Houshig said she had always been interested in diplomacy, especially since she lives in a region of conflicts like the Near East. “I want to become a successful and recognized diplomat so that I can protect the interests of the Armenian nation, work on advancing the issues of recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Armenian Cause and help all us Armenians achieve our dream,” Houshig Gaimagamian stated in an interview with Hayern Aysor, adding that, as a Diaspora Armenian, her dream is to help Armenia and believes her chosen profession will open that horizon.

Talking about Azerbaijan’s attacks at the line of contact of the Nagorno-Karabakh-Azerbaijan conflicting forces on 2-5 April, the future diplomat said the following: “After the four-day war in April, this issue can only be solved peacefully and diplomatically, but Azerbaijan must definitely be held liable for its illegal acts. We, as Armenian students of the American University of Beirut, raised our foreign friends’ awareness about the situation in Artsakh through our Armenian Club and let the international community know about Azerbaijan’s aggression. We showed photos, videos and other materials at the university that sparked reactions.”

Let us add that Houshig attaches importance to this youth forum since she hopes to establish contacts with young Armenians from different countries and seek paths for cooperation.
