Vice-President of Swiss Parliament: “Azerbaijan wasn’t expecting such a powerful response from Artsakh in April”

Switzerland’s views on the war in April are clear-Azerbaijan attacked Artsakh’s positions several times.
Vice-President of the Parliament of Switzerland Dominique de Buman expressed the view that Azerbaijan wasn’t even expecting such a powerful response from Karabakh. “The Azerbaijanis couldn’t resist and suffered even more than they thought they would,” the vice-president of the parliament said, according to Artsakhpress.
According to him, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is an extremely intricate problem and it would be hard to solve it immediately. “It is not safe to say that the OSCE Minsk Group hasn’t done anything. Let us recall OSCE chairman Didier Burkhalter from Switzerland, who did the best he could during his chairmanship. The OSCE Minsk Group simply doesn’t have a clear-cut plan, but it does have a vision for coordination of the conflict. As far as Russia is concerned, its involvement is conditioned by its historic and strategic role. It should be mentioned that there is no doubt about Russia’s role in the Caucasus since the country seems to be a the “police” for everyone that prevents wars to a certain extent,” he stated.
Touching upon the tortures of the bodies of 18 servicemen handed over to the Armenian side through the mediated efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office following the four-day war and the tortures of senior citizens during those days, the Vice-President of the Swiss Parliament stated that, irrespective of who did it and against whom, such actions are absolutely unacceptable.
“This is also against all the Conventions and human dignity. There are several international courts to which all the devastated states need to file claims on the ground of such incidents,” Dominique de Buman emphasized.
