Syrian-Armenians to also participate in World Refugee Day event

On June 18 (11:00-18:00), Ararat Hall of Marriott Hotel will host an event devoted to World Refugee Day with the title “Five-Year Crisis: Five Years of Struggle for a New Life”. The event is organized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Oxfam organization as part of the UNHCR’s With Refugees and Oxfam’s With Syria campaigns.

RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Armenia Christoph Bierwirth and Director of Oxfam Armenia Margarita Hakobyan will give welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony of the event at 12:30.

An exhibition-sale showcasing the handmade items of displaced Syrian businessmen, a theme-based photo exhibition of refugees and a candlelight vigil will be held on the sidelines of the event.

The event will feature performances by talented Syrian musicians and national follower of the UNHCR, merited artist, singer Zaruhi Babayan and the members of her Song Studio.

The opening ceremony will end with the presentation of the UNHCR’s book “Crossroads” presenting the stories of refugees and the showing of children’s clothes designed by Syrian stylist Kevork Shadoyan.
