Moscow’s “Tapan” Museum hosts event dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide with the title “Russian Intelligentsia and the Armenian Genocide”

On April 23, “Tapan” (Ark) Museum of the Armenian church complex of Moscow hosted an event entitled “Russian Intelligentsia and the Armenian Genocide” and attended by Primate of the Diocese of Russia and New Nakhichevan of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Father Archbishop Yezras Nersisyan and Israeli professor Yair Auron, as reported the information center of “Hayordats Toon” Armenian School/Center to Hayern Aysor.
The creator of the event, Armenian history teacher of “Hayordats Toon” Armenian School/Center of Moscow Silva Gyulishyan wanted to show the intellectuals who didn’t give in to the widespread opinion, stood with the Armenian people and called things by their names.
“Even the accounts of Russian intellectuals are enough to picture how horrible and monstrous the crime is. It was those Russian intellectuals who stated that the crime was perpetrated on the historic land of the Armenians, in front of the eyes of superpowers and with the indifference that led to silent consent. However, it was the individual representatives of those superpowers who didn’t wish to shut an eye on the massacres, but wrote, published and demanded, becoming a valuable source for the sons of their nations to be born years later,” Silva Gyulishyan stated, adding that among those intellectuals were Yuri Veselovsky, Antoin Berezovsky-Olginsky, Alexey Kolmakov, Valery Bryusov and others.
At the end, Father, Archbishop Yezras Nersisyan gave his blessing to the participants of the event and said they must state their claims for a just solution to their cause.
The event also included performances of musical numbers by choirmaster of Ovsanna Choir of “Hayordats Toon” Armenian School/Center Lena Beglaryan, director of Hrashatsan Folk Ensemble Armine Martirosyan and student Mariam Prazyan.
After the event, Director of Ark Museum Ashot Avetisyan presented the etymology of the term ?genocide’ and touched upon the stages and motives of perpetration of the Armenian Genocide.
