Glendale-Armenian students participated in Armenian Genocide commemoration event

On April 21, students of the Davidian & Mariamian Educational Foundation of Glendale participated in an event commemorating the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide organized by Glendale Unified School District. The Armenian Club, the members of which are Armenian students attending American public schools, made preparations for the popular event that saw a turnout of nearly 2,000 people.
“This commemorative event has been held for the past 15 years. Since the day of its inception, the students of our school have always been invited to give their speeches,” Director of the Davidian & Mariamian Educational Foundation Ophelia Satoorian told Hayern Aysor, adding that during the event, they recite poems, as well as perform songs and dances that present Armenia and sorrow of the Armenian people. Among other participants were the Armenian students of all public middle schools, the scouts of Homenetmen, as well as many foreign students who sang “Mer Hayrenik” (the national anthem of the Republic of Armenia) with great enthusiasm. The attendees also watched the video message of U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff as he gave his welcoming remarks and expressed his solidarity.
