Paris Mayor expresses support to criminalization of denial of the Armenian Genocide in France

Members of the Armenian community of France hosted Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo during the reception hosted on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

In her speech, the mayor of Paris also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, according to Nouvelles d’Armenie.

“France’s role within the Minsk Group must be to help solve the issue under the conditions that will allow avoiding another war,” Anne Hidalgo emphasized.

The mayor of Paris also expressed her unequivocal support to the adoption of the draft law criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide in France. “This is your home. This will always be your home that will support you and receive you,” Anne Hidalgo said as she addressed the French-Armenians, according to Artsakhpress.

Co-chairs of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations of France Mourad Papazian and Ara Toranian also gave their speeches at the reception attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to France Vigen Chitechyan.
