Turkish opposition member being sued for statement on Nagorno-Karabakh

Aygyun Attar, rector of Azerbaijani descent of Giresun University of the Giresun Province of the Black Sea Region in Turkey, and Turkish lawyer Ali Celikaya, have filed a lawsuit against co-chair of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Party of Nations (HDP) Selahattin Demirtas.
They are charging Demirtas with violating the provisions under Articles 216 and 304 of the Criminal Code of Turkey, that is, “instilling hatred and enmity in the people” and “provoking a war against the State”.
“The lawsuit particularly states that Demirtas touched upon the latest developments in Nagorno-Karabakh during his visit to Russia. He referred to Nagorno-Karabakh as the ?autonomous republic of Nagorno-Karabakh’, which is not right since an autonomous republic has never been established in Nagorno-Karabakh,” writes Hurriyet, according to Ermenihaber.
The lawsuit has been filed against Demirtas not only because he has made a statement on Nagorno-Karabakh, but also because he has expressed many thoughts on the downing of a Russian military jet in Syria and the events of Kobane.
