Tehran simplifying visa regime, RA citizens to obtain entry visas at airport

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran is simplifying the entry visa regime. Citizens of 190 countries will now be able to obtain a 30-day entry visa upon their arrival at the airport. The entry visa may be extended for 15 days, writes PanARMENIAN.Net.

In the past, tourists were granted 14-day entry visas without the right to extension. The new entry visa regime extends to tourists traveling from Russia, Germany, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Spain, the UAE, Romania, Cuba, Azerbaijan and other countries. It has also been announced that Iran will make the transition to issuing electronic visas in the course of a year.

The change in the procedure for issuing entry visas goes to show that Iran is preparing to receive a large flow of tourists. Tehran is certain that the cancellation of sanctions will allow tourists from Western countries to perceive the cultural and historical treasures of Iran in a new way, reports Argumentiru.com. According to Iran’s Minister of Tourism Masud Sultanifara, Iran plans to help tourism grow. Whereas nearly 5 million foreigners visited in 2014, the country expects to receive 20 million tourists a year until 2025.
