“Return” Camp in Gandza

July 19th marked the launch of the “Return” camping event in Gandza, which brought together more than 40 children, reports akhalskha.net.

The goal of the camping event was to provide the children with national, moral, aesthetic and physical education, shape national values, as well as help provide the children with knowledge about poet Vahan Teryan’s life, poetry and memories of his childhood.

To accomplish that goal, the organizers held games and courses, as well as helped fill the air with “the air of Teryan”. Here the children gained more knowledge and made friends through non-traditional methods of teaching and organizing leisure, spent days that were fun and interesting, learned to cooperate and help each other and follow the rules. They also acquired abilities.

The program of the summer camping event also included gymnastics, development exercises (memory, logic, imagination, etc.), elements of environmental education and various courses on courtesy, ecology and culture, various creations, games and contests, the teaching of the prayer, as well as certain national songs, dances and the camp’s anthem, excursions (“Teryan’s Garden”, Museum of Studies on the Province of Akhalkalak), as well as meetings with other campers.

One could see the children’s excitement. The closing ceremony was held on July 26th, that is, “Day of Poetry of Teryan”. Before the holy mass, the campers recited Teryan’s poems, performed the camp’s anthem, as well as other songs and dances.

The camp’s founder N. Sirakanyan granted certificates to the campers and expressed gratitude to the assistants (A. Galoyan, H. Levonyan and S. Margaryan), as well as the sponsors (Moscow-based citizens of Gandza), particularly D. Ketsyan and A. Hakobyan.
