Painter Rafael Megall visits RA Ministry of Diaspora

On May 19, Acting Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia Hranush Hakobyan received painter Rafael Megall, who represented Armenia at the 57th Venice Biennale.

Cordially greeting the guest, the Acting Minister of Diaspora praised Megall for properly presenting Armenian culture at the prestigious international exhibition, attached importance to the young artist’s efforts to properly represent Armenia among other cultures and voiced hope that Armenia’s pavilion would win the unique Golden Lion Award next time.

Rafael Megall expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and support and noted that the Ministries of Culture and Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia had made it possible for him to showcase his “The Panthers in My Blossoming Garden” exhibition of 15 paintings at the Venice Biennale and attract the attention of artists and visitors.

“The entire Armenian pavilion and particularly my works left a great impression at the Venice Biennale, which was held under the title “Long Live Live Arts!” (Viva Arte Viva). In Armenian fine arts, the panther symbolizes the fruitful land of the Armenians, and in my flourished garden, it was presented through a new and unique approach to old ornaments, symbolizing the harmony between man and nature,” Megall particularly said.

Other issues on presenting modern Armenian culture to the international community with the Diaspora’s support were discussed during the meeting.
