Armenia and France presidents discuss Karabakh

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Saturday met with his French colleague François Hollande, in the Polish capital city of Poland.
The President’s press office informed that, first, Sargsyan thanked Hollande for his consistent support for and important role in matters of vital importance for Armenia.
The President also stated that Armenian-French economic cooperation has expanded significantly over the course of the years.
In addition, Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude for the French National Assembly’s recent passing of the bill—in which President Holland had a great personal contribution—that criminalizes Armenian Genocide denial.
At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors conferred on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this connection, the President of Armenia underscored the active part by France, as an Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group co-chairing country, in seeking a peaceful settlement of this conflict—and by way of talks, and thanked the French president for his respective personal efforts.
Serzh Sargsyan and François Hollande also highlighted the need to unconditionally implement the provisions that are specified in the statements that were adopted during the recent meetings that were held in the Austrian capital city of Vienna, and in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Furthermore, the Armenian and French presidents exchanged views on the prospects for moving the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process forward.
