Hranush Hakobyan: Even after 100 years, the Turks continue to silence the Armenians”

On May 4, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received meritorious Australian-Armenian teacher, former principal of Sydney’s Arshak and Sofi Galstaun College and current Permanent Representative of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to Australia Kaylar Michaelian.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the situation created as a result of the military aggression that Azerbaijan unleashed in early April and the problem with making the assistance of the Armenian communities of the Diaspora more targeted.
Kaylar Michaelian informed the Minister that the Armenian community of Australia is deeply concerned about Azerbaijan’s aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh that has taken the lives of several soldiers of the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and peaceful civilians and is ready to support the victims’ families and the wounded soldiers.
Minister Hranush Hakobyan expressed gratitude to Kaylar Michaelian and to the entire Armenian community of Australia and emphasized that “Azerbaijan is not only an aggressor and an advocate of anti-Armenianism, but also, first and foremost, a country advocating, encouraging and supporting terrorism at the level of the primary figure, as a state and officially. The fact that the head of state awards a rascal having decapitated a soldier already shows the real face of the head of state. The world already saw the precedent of this in the case of Ramil Safavor, and since the world didn’t condemn the brutal murder of an Armenian in his sleep as necessary, today that barbaric act is being carried out in a more obscene way. We must state that we are dealing with a terrorist act organized at the state level and the training of terrorists at the state level. The world needs to be concerned about the fact that Azerbaijan is becoming a center for evil, and this must be strictly condemned by the international community.
There is also a clear manifestation of anti-Armenianism and racism in Turkey where Turkish parliamentarians are using violence to try to silence Armenian Member of Parliament Garo Paylan, who condemns genocide, speaks out for the truth, justice and human rights protection. Even 100 years after the genocide, the Turks continue to silence the Armenians.”
In his turn, Kaylar Michaelian stated that Diaspora Armenians don’t want to tolerate the acts of violence that have been perpetrated against the Armenians for centuries, the genocide and are ready to do everything they can to support the Homeland and Nagorno-Karabakh.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed the ways and opportunities of helping Nagorno-Karabakh.
