RA Minister of Diaspora awards Berj Jambazian

On June 26, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan awarded the Rev. Berj Jambazian the Boghos Nubar Medal.

Berj Jambazian was born in Jerusalem. In 1966, he graduated from the Department of Missions and Theology of the School of Beatenberg in Switzerland, after which he graduated from the Near East School of Theology in Lebanon. In 1981, he became spiritual pastor of the United Armenian Congregational Church in Hollywood and went on to serve for ten years as senior pastor at the same church. In 1984, Jambazian started a spiritual and cultural television program for the Armenian community, and his main focus is on the community’s activities. Jambazian has been a member of the Board of Directors of Glendale Memorial Hospital and a member of the board of directors of the Christian Youth Association. Since 2006, he has been the founding pastor of the Holy Trinity Armenian Evangelical Church. Jambazian’s relations with the Homeland trace back to 1988 when the Reverend provided humanitarian assistance to the Armenians devastated by the Spitak Earthquake.

Praising Berj Jambazian’s contributions to the strengthening and development of the Homeland-Diaspora relations, Minister Hranush Hakobyan particularly mentioned: “As a citizen and a human being, Berj Jambazian makes great contributions to the preservation of the Armenian identity. With his type, attributes and value system, he is able to inspire the people around him and instill faith in Armenians and Armenia. Being a pastor of the Armenian Evangelical Church, the Reverend exalts the Armenian Apostolic Church and is a great partner of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.”

Expressing gratitude for the high award, Mr. Jambazian confessed that the award came as a surprise. “I couldn’t expect such an award because I have simply served the Homeland. I’m very happy for this golden opportunity. As a pastor of the Armenian Evangelical Church, I have always supported and have been dedicated to the Homeland and the Mother Church. Patriotism should be described as moral and spiritual. If there is no description, that will cause harm to the Homeland,” Jambazian said.
