Our history is our passport-School in Vanadzor hosts event dedicated to 300th anniversary of Mekhitarist Congregation

As reported Hayern Aysor, history teacher of Primary School #1 in Vanadzor Naira Arakelyan held an event dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Mekhitarist Congregation. During the event held as part of the Our Greats Program of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, the schoolchildren gave speeches in which they attached importance to the Mekhitarists’ role in the preservation of Armenian culture. Located on the St. Lazar’s Island next to Venice, the Mekhitarist Congregation, a spiritual center for Armenians that has gained the respect and attracted the attention of the civilized world, has been around for nearly three centuries. With its infinite services for the enlightenment of the Armenian people and the development of culture in general, the Congregation serves as an academy and as a constellation of lights. The goal of the event was to introduce the attendees to the creation and history of the Mekhitarist Congregation (a cultural asset of the Armenian people) and establish a connection with the present. Wherever we Armenians may be, be it in the Homeland or abroad, each Armenian needs to know his history. Our history is our passport. The life experience, way and symbol of survival are part of our history.

At the end of this memorable and interesting event attended by the School’s Principal Lilit Sarukhanyan, Vice-Principals, teachers, guests and parents, everyone had the vision of keeping the fire of patriotism burning in their souls.
