The Canadian Armenian community is deeply dismayed by the atrocious behavior of the Azerbaijani army

Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau

Prime Minister of Canada

The Canadian Armenian community is deeply dismayed by the atrocious behavior of the Azerbaijani army at the line of contact between the historical Armenian populated mountainous lands of the Republic of Karabagh and Azerbaijan. On April 1 and 2, 2016, an unprovoked Azeri aggression and attacks by the Azerbaijani sophisticated air force and artillery have been a gross violation of the 1994 cease-fire agreement between the two countries.

The indiscriminate shelling and bombarding by grad missiles, of not only the Armenian forces, but also of peaceful citizens of nearby villages and towns reflects the cold-blooded and murderous policies of Azerbaijan. This reckless act of desperation by the Azeri government is also a gross breach of the tireless efforts of the Organization of Security and Cooperation of Europe (OSCE) to resolve the Karabagh conflict through peaceful negotiations. The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party (ADLP), based in Montreal, pleads the good offices of Canada’s Prime Minister Hon. Justin Trudeau and of its Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Stephane Dion, to condemn this blatant continuing terrorist act of Azerbaijan and urge the Azerbaijani government to stop the aggression immediately, as well as to respect the cease-fire agreement and to collaborate with the OSCE toward a peaceful resolution of the Karabagh issue.

Respectfully submitted by, Ara Balian

Chairman ADLP, Montreal
